(Do not use the total rate of 42% noted above)
- For summer work for students, factor an additional charge for FICA
and medicare at a total of 7.65%
and workers' compensation at .31% (that's decimal point 31) *; for a
grand total of 7.96%
- Academic year work: For students taking 6 or more credit hours - factor
a workers' compensation rate of .31%* (Do not factor FICA or medicare)
* The workers' compensation rate depends on the level of risk associated
with particular activities ; there are four different rates of workers
comp. The .31% rate is for office and general research with minimal hazards.
Call this office if the activity is something other than general office
work.
