Janet Seegmiller has three grants at the present time. The first one is for $29,300 to help develop a hand-held mobile device provides a multi-media tour of Cedar Breaks National Monument. The other two are from the Utah Humanities Council ($2,000) and Zion National Park ($14,980) for oral histories of the park employees.
The multi-media tour of Cedar Breaks National Monument, carried out through the Colorado Plateau Cooperative Systems Unit, utilizes the hand-held mobile device technology displaying high-quality digital and audio video for participants.
Janet explains her main goal for the Zion Centennial Employee Oral History Project: "As a result of this project, the long-term impact on the community will come as highlights from interviews are published that will be available to all the participants of this project, their descendants, and community members. With video oral history archives, it is hoped that a DVD, with highlights of the interviews, excite many participants and audiences as the history is shared."
Video, audio, and transcript copies of these oral histories are available in the Sheratt Library Special Collections, Utah Parks Company Archive, and at the Zion Park Museum.
