Undergraduate Research Opportunities

Sigma Xi Grants-in-Aid of Research -- Research awards are made to support scientific investigation in any field. Awards are made in amounts up to a maximum of $1,000 (with an average award of $600) except as noted on the program website in the case of special funds. Deadlines: March 15, October 15.

Carnegie Endowment for International Peace - Junior Fellows provide research assistance to Associates working on the Carnegie Endowment’s projects, such as non-proliferation, democracy building, international economics, migration and Russian/Eurasian issues. Eligible applicants are graduating seniors and recent graduates. Deadline: January 15th (Note: that is the external deadline for Duke nominations to be sent to the Endowment - the internal deadline falls during the first week in December each year.

New England Consortium for Undergraduate Science Education -- Site at Yale University listing summer research opportunities nationwide for students in science and engineering.

New College of Florida                                                                                    High profile National Scholarship Competitions

The Internship Exchange -- A search engine and database enabling you to create a customized list of internship opportunities reflecting your discipline, geographic requirements, etc.

Federal Internships -- A listing of internships with federal government provided by the office of Congressman Melvin Watt.

Oak Ridge National Laboratory -- Undergraduate programs at ORNL.

Energy Research Undergraduate Laboratory Fellowship (ERULF) program -- Undergraduate research opportunities at Department of Energy labs.

Collegiate Inventors Competition -- Winning students (or student teams) receive $20,000, and their advisors receive $10,000, for their innovative ideas, processes, or technologies.
Entry deadline: June 1.

Fulbright Program - Preference is given to recent recipients of the baccalaureate degree, so rising college seniors should definitely consider this.
