Socio-Economic Development in Africa: Challenges & Opportunities

Proposals should be submitted by September 17th, 2012

The Southern Utah University Global Engagement Center is pleased to announce the call for proposals for its 3rd annual Global Engagement Academic Conference.  This year’s conference will be held February 8, 2013, on the SUU campus in Cedar City, Utah.

The title of this year’s conference is Socio-economic Development in Africa: Challenges & Opportunities. The conference will focus on various dimensions of socio-economic development on the continent with the intent to foster discussions that lead to actions resulting in positive change.  Selected sessions will cover a wide range of topics, cultures, and geographic regions.  Academics, activists, artists, and undergraduate and graduate students alike are encouraged to submit session proposals, which may address, but are not limited to, the following aspects of socio-economic development in Africa:

At the conference, presenters and participants will engage in discussions and activities that will afford them the opportunity to gain a broader knowledge of socio-economic development in Africa.  Sessions and activities may take one of five forms:

Session proposals are due by September 17, 2012, and should be submitted online through this page.

Those submitting proposals will be contacted by October 1.
