Institutional Advancement

Planned Giving

By taking advantage of the many avenues available for making planned gifts to an institution of higher learning, SUU's generous and thoughtful donors are able to provide meaningful and lasting contributions to the University, its pressing needs and its wonderful students. Planned gifts are typically gifts derived from securities and real estate, rather than income. Although these gifts are sometimes given outright to the University, they are more frequently constructed and given in a deferred form - later in life (inter vivos) or after the donor's passing (testamentary).

SUU invites those who may consider a planned gift to "Create a Legacy" and do their part to ensure that succeeding generations of SUU students will continue to enjoy the benefits of higher education for many decades to come. Donors should consult their financial advisors for tax advice.

Types of planned gifts include the following:

*NOTE: Charitable Lead Trusts and Life Estate Agreements may have never been more attractive from a tax-planning standpoint, as they are today. Estate tax uncertainties and increasing real estate prices add appeal to these gift options. SUU development staff will be happy to discuss these and other planned giving choices with you and answer any questions.
