Description  This position is located out of the Shrub Science Laboratory located in Provo, Utah. The primary responsibilities of this position include monitoring native grass species in 5 plant enclosures throughout Utah, and developing a new phase of the study involving the application of these plants after fire. Training will be provided on grass species identification as well as monitoring techniques. The operation of equipment such as rototillers, weed whackers, and tractors will be required. Training will be provided for those unfamiliar with operation of this equipment except a tractor. Data analysis and entry are a significant part of this position as well as clear legible writing on data forms. MS word and Excel are programs will be used for data entry throughout portions of the summer. ATV's may be necessary to access some sites and ATV training will be provided. Similarly, the position involves the use of a GPS and other small electrical equipment; however, training will be provided for all equipment and monitoring/survey techniques.

Salary/Wage $11.95-$15.00 per hour, depending upon experience and schooling
Work Hours 40 hours per week
Qualifications  A valid driver's license, a willingness to operate an ATV, rototiller, weed whacker and tractor. This position requires a substantial amount of travel, up to approximately 5 weeks of travel during the 4 months of work. Motel rooms and per diem will be paid by the project. These fees will be reimbursed to traveler every 2 weeks. Training will be provided for those unfamiliar with operation of this equipment except a tractor. MS word and Excel are programs that will be required to be used for data entry. An attitude of support for safety in the workplace is crucial to the success of this project.
