| Description | Work assignments for this project are split between the Vegetation (50%) and Wildlife Management (50%) Programs. The intern will assist with wildlife surveys including establishing and maintaining remote wildlife cameras, monitoring species of management concern including peregrine falcons and goshawks, and supporting Utah prairie dog conservation efforts in the park including environmental education with school groups and the public. Additionally, the intern will work with the Vegetation Management program on a 4-person crew on exotic species eradication, habitat restoration, and native seed collection. Intern will acquire a Utah pesticide applicators license (paid for by the park) to spray herbicide and insecticide within the park and learn to use GPS technology for data collection. The intern will also have opportunities to work on individual projects related to wildlife or vegetation management during the season, as time allows. In addition to the above responsibilities the individual may be assigned to assist resource management staff with other projects such as archaeological surveys, rare plant inventories, air quality monitoring and other resource management, as needed. There may also be the opportunities to assist with Search and Rescue activities within the park. The typical season at Bryce Canyon runs from early May until October. |

| Qualifications | Natural Resources, Biology or related Academic background. Duties of this internship require sitting, standing, bending, or walking for protracted periods of time. Some duties may als o require strenuous physical activity such as climbing, lifting, carrying, and hiking at high altitudes and over rugged, precipitous, and sometimes unstable terrain. Work occurs primarily outdoors along roadsides, within meadow habitat and in the back country of the park; weather can be variable and summer thunderstorms are common June through August. |
