Southern Utah University is pleased to announce the induction of two new members to the institution’s elite Old Main Society. Those honored at the University's Holiday Gala on Wednesday, December 1, included Neil and Anne Gardner and Don and Sylvia Bulloch.
Additionally, two longtime Old Main Society members were recognized for their ongoing efforts in support of Southern Utah University: Larry and Joan Dahle and Zions Bank.
Beginning with the construction of the Old Main building in 1898, thousands of young minds have been instructed and prepared for the future in the classrooms of Southern Utah University.
Thanks to the dedication of a veritable army of faculty, staff and administrators, students have had the opportunity to gain valuable experience and knowledge in the comfortable setting of SUU’s intimate classrooms.
None of this would be possible without the bedrock of countless friends of the University that have pledged their assets to the University’s efforts to build the next generation of thinkers.
SUU’s Old Main Society is a collection of such private donors and organizations, united in the goal of sustaining the University’s rich heritage into perpetuity.
Old Main Society Inductees
The Gardners, longtime Cedar City residents, have been stalwart supporters of the arts, donating their time volunteering at the Utah Shakespeare Festival, as well as offering funds for the construction of the Southern Utah Museum of Art.
The Bullochs have extensive ties to the history of the University and community, with ancestors involved in the original construction of the University as well as the building of the local economy.
Old Main Society Honorees
The Dahles, local business owners, have aided close to 200 future teachers attain teaching degrees through their endowed scholarship in teacher education.
Instrumental in building the state’s economy, Zions Bank has always been a supporter of higher education in southern Utah. Jesselie Anderson, wife of Zions CEO Scott Anderson, has sat on the Board of Governors of the Utah Shakespeare Festival.
The University and community wish to extend a special thank you to these gracious contributors to SUU’s drive for continued excellence, and hope for their continued support.
