Levins Records First-Team All-American Finish

Southern Utah's Cameron Levins was as high as third place on Saturday afternoon, running the men's 5k at the 2011 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship and ultimately finished seventh to earn first-team All-American honors. Levins ran a school-record and personal-best time of 13:40.30 en route to his finish.

The Canadian started the race in the middle of the pack and methodically made his way to the front, holding in the group behind Liberty's Sam Chelanga and Arizona's Lawi Lalang. Chelenga and Lalang would go on to finish first and second in the race, crossing the finish line in 13:29.30 and 13:31.69, respectively.

Levins was in third place going into the final 600-meters, running ahead of a group that included athletes from Iona, Stanford, Northern Arizona and New Mexico. The pack made its kick on the final lap as Levins slipped to seventh, edging out a pressing Donn Cabral (13:40.62) from Princeton.

The top eight finishers earned first-team All-American status as Levins' time also broke his own school record in the event by four seconds.
