Section 2: Do's and Don'ts
In that the Purchasing Card allows its Cardholders great flexibility, the program itself is tightly controlled. There are specific do’s and don’ts that all Cardholders must be aware:
- Do – Use it anywhere in the world Visa (current card type) is accepted.
- Don’t – Generally, most Purchasing Cards are not allowed to be used for travel related expenses. Purchases from Hotels, Rental Car Agencies, all types of restaurants, and Travel Agents will be declined.
- Do – Use it for phone purchases, electronic transactions, over the counter deals of all daily departmental requirements.
- Don’t – Let any one else use your card.
- Do – Pay for conference and other related fees
- Don’t – Use it for personal use
- Do – think of using it first before using a P.O.
- Don’t – pay sales tax
- Do – use it, use it, use it
- Don’t – forget your receipt or documentation
