All-American Finish and Canadian National Champion
November was an amazing month for Cameron Levins, the SUU Cross Country program and the entire Thunderbird Nation.
On November 21, Cameron earned the title of All-American with a fourth-place finish at the NCAA National Cross Country Championships, earning Southern Utah's second top-five national finish in five years. Teammate Nate Jewkes, a sophomore from South Jordan, Utah, also represented the T-Birds with an 80th-place finish.
Six days later on November 27 in Vancouver, the redshirt senior from British Columbia, Canada, ran to a first-place finish at the Canadian Cross Country Championships and successfully defended his 2010 title.
Congratulations to Cameron and Coach Eric Houle ('81).
Olympic Gold Medalist is SUU's Newest Coach
Kelly Willie, a member of the gold medal 4x400-meter relay team at the 2004 Olympics in Athens, has joined the Southern Utah University track and field program and will serve as an assistant coach. Willie will be responsible for the sprinters in addition to other duties as assigned.
"This will be a great opportunity for myself and my family," Willie said. "My hope is to take the SUU track and field program to new heights, turn out great people and build the best program in the state of Utah."
