GRADUATES/STUDENTS

Roma Foster Osborn, '24, passed away December 25, 2002 in the East Lake Care Center, in Provo, Utah. During her time at BAC, she was a Charter Member of the Phi Alpha Beta Sorority. After BAC, she attended Carbon College in Price, Utah, BYU in Provo, Utah and Central Vocational School in Provo, Utah.

Joseph Waldorf Bauer, '34, passed away January, 14, 2003 at the Kolob Regional Care and Rehabilitation Center in Cedar City, Utah. Joe was born July 13, 1915 in Cedar City. Joe was an active civic leader in his younger years. He was President of the 50 Year Club at SUU, a member of the Sons of the Utah Pioneers and a member of the Cedar Jaycees. Jo loved being a farmer and rancher. He worked at Bradshaw's Chevrolet Service Station and retired from Valley View Medical Center.

Lillian Jarvis Chatterley, '34, passed away April 19, 2003 after a valiant and courageous battle with multiple effects of diabetes. She was born June 9, 1918 in Hinckley, Utah. Lillian received her Bachelors Degree in Education at BAC. She was an elementary school teacher in Cedar City, Utah. She was a member of the Lady Lions, Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, PTA, SUU Alumni Association, Historical Society and various other clubs.

Shirley Jones Marchant, '35, passed away December 20, 2002 at Valley View Medical Center in Cedar City, Utah. Shirley was born in Cedar City, Utah on May 20, 1917. After graduating from BAC, she went on to graduate from Utah State University. At Utah State she awarded the Parry Womanhood Award and served as president of the Associated Women Students. After graduation, she moved to Cowley, Wyoming where she taught high school.

Angie Mace Pratt, att. '37, passed away January 19, 2003 of natural causes. She was born June 11, 1918 in Deseret, Utah. While at BAC, Angie was on academic scholarship. She worked as a substitute teacher in the Millard County Schools. In 1965, she and her husband moved to St. George where she worked as a librarian in the Washington County Library until she retired in 1983.

Lois Nelson Urie, '37, passed away March 2, 2003 at the Valley View Medical Center in Cedar City, Utah. She was born February 20, 1919. After graduating from BAC, she then went on to work for Job Service for 20 years.

Norma Bentley Miller, '39, passed away December 26, 2002 in Woodland, California. She was born October 15, 1919 in Parowan, Utah. After she graduated from BAC, she went on to BYU and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. She then taught at Parowan Elementary for four years.

Georgia Stapley Jones, '61, passed away March 29, 2003 after a long fight with M.S. and a short battle with cancer. She was born September 18, 1941 in Cedar City, Utah. Georgia attended the College of Southern Utah for nearly four years, where she was one quarter short of her Teaching Degree. She loved life and especially loved having her kids and grandkids around her. She also enjoyed spending good times at the mountain cabin.

Reed L. Turner, '71, passed away December 15, 2002 in Washington, Utah. Reed was born March 17, 1914 in Sutherland, Utah. He herded sheep to pay for his education. Reed loved the mountains of West Desert as well as riding his horses. He served as Chairman of Days of the Old West Rodeo.

Clark Hal Sullivan, '71, passed away January 29, 2003 at Dixie Regional Medical Center after a valiant battle with colon and liver cancer. He was born on December 10, 1947. He enjoyed a good joke, spending time with family in Pine Valley, shooting guns with the kids, reloading ammunition, watching endless hours of movies and serving others.

Zelma Mierle Limb Alger, '73, passed away December 23, 2002 at Kolob Regional Care Center in Cedar City, Utah. Zelma was born January 23, 1918 in Beaver, Utah. She retired from Southern Utah University having worked in the Development Office for 14 years.

Robert Therlon Tuckett, att. 80's, passed away January 8, 2003 at his home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Robbie was born on January 20, 1968. Robbie loved to spend time on the mountain fishing and hunting with his family and friends. Robbie enjoyed working at Kolob Oxygen. He loved to spend time helping out his patients and making friends.

Diane Hinton Scow, '89-'90, passed away December 3, 2002 at her parents' home after a long struggle with Melanoma. She was born August 31, 1970 in St. George, Utah. After her time at SUSC, she and her husband moved to Henderson, Nevada.

Trent Todd Glazier, '94, passed away April 9, 2003 in Kanab, Utah. Trent was born April 29, 1964 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He earned a Bachelors degree in Business Administration graduating Magna Cum Laude. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the out of doors in general. He was a very creative person, a great practical joker, a gentle man, patriotic and people person.

FACULTYSTAFF

Pauline Hafen Nelson, '67, passed away April 8, 2003 in LaVerkin, Utah after a lengthy illness. Pauline was born November 21, 1929 in St. George Utah. After graduating from College of Southern Utah, she went on to earn her a Master of Business Education degree in 1969 from Bowling Green University in Ohio. She worked as an Associate Professor of Business at Southern Utah State College from 1969 to 1974. She then became an administrator until 1985 when she had a debilitating stroke. She encouraged students and faculty to develop their abilities and made many life long friends through education.

A. Glenn Wahlquist passed away on February 10, 2003. He was born August 22, 1912 in Murray, Utah. He was an officer in World War II. Glenn taught at Southern Utah University for 35 years.

Paul Ward Wilford passed away April 4, 2003 at his home in Cedar City, Utah. Paul was born January 15, 1937 in Los Angeles, California. Paul grew up and attended Whittier High School where he graduated in 1955. His high school guidance counselor once told him that he should not pursue a career that included any further education. He enrolled at Ricks College in 1957. He met and married his wife and they moved back to Whittier where he drove trucks and later joined the Whittier Fire Department. He enrolled at California State College and received a bachelor's degree in Political Science in 1970. He and his family then moved to Rockland, Idaho where he began teaching at Rockland school. He attained his teaching certificate from Idaho State University. After many moves and many schools, he ended up getting his Doctorate in Education at Utah State University. Paul then made his home in Cedar City, Utah where he was the Director of Graduate studies at the College of Education at Southern Utah University.
