What's happening with the SUU Las Vegas Alumni Chapter? Plenty, first
of all, you can check out the events they sponsored for SUU's Homecoming

Dennis Sponer ('92 political science) outlined the mission of the alumni
chapter by stating, "Our organization was created to connect, inform
and serve the University's diverse alumni and friends in the Las Vegas
and surrounding areas, and to use the talents and resources of its alumni
and friends to support the mission of the University. We are starting
small this year with monthly social lunches. We are planning events in
the spring and fall. The spring event will be a western themed barbeque
for families, and the fall event will be coordinated with the University's
Homecoming."
An old fashioned Western barbeque will highlight the exciting spring event,
to be held at A Secret Garden located in the Las Vegas Racquet Club on
April 25, 2003 beginning at 5:00 pm. Dinner will be served at 6:00 pm.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS, we hope all of our Las Vegas Alumni and their families
will join us for this exciting event!
A Secret Garden is a private park with facilities to entertain guests
of all ages including a large pool, volleyball, basketball and tennis
courts, horseshoe pits and Jumping Jupiter to entertain our friends of
all ages. There will be live entertainment, together with a DJ, games
and prizes enough to go around. This is an event you and your family will
long remember plus you'll be able to reacquaint and reminisce with your
classmates and friends from good ol' SUU.
The cost of the spring event is free (well sort of) for you and your entire
family. What's the catch you ask? No catch, just simply pay your annual
alumni dues which is only $25.00 per year. What a deal! "We are excited
to have an organization dedicated to the promotion of Southern Utah University
and the benefit of our alumni in Las Vegas," said Pennie Copley,
Assistant Director of Alumni Relations.

In addition to the monthly board meetings, no-host (noon) luncheons at
Jason's Deli (Maryland and Twain) are being held on the second Wednesday
of every month.
