Scott Phillips Named Festival Director
October 17th Southern Utah University announced the Utah Shakespearean Festival’s own R. Scott Phillips as the Utah Shakespearean Festival’s new Executive Director. Phillips has served as Interim Director at the Festival since December of 2005, and will now step up as the official replacement to the Festival’s founder Fred C. Adams, who retired in 2005 after leading the Utah Shakespearean Festival for the past 44 years.

The Frederic Remington Makes Tracks...Adventures and Artistic Impressions exhibit attracted over 1400 visitors to the gallery in just 33 days, with an average of 42 per day between September 5th and October 20th. In addition, the gallery hosted over 65 school workshops as part of its educational engagement program. Karen Gale, gallery Education Coordinator, developed an educational program related to the exhibit that had an impact on over 900 school children in Iron County. The exhibit was supported by the Friends of the Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery and the Utah Arts Council.
The Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery hosted “An Evening for Educators,” on October 10th. Carrie Trenholm, holder of the Beverly Taylor Sorenson Endowed Chair in Elementary Education, coordinated the evening’s activities for 25 Utah teachers.
2008 Friends of the Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery Art Auction
Plans are underway for the 2008 Friends of the Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery Art Auction, which will be held at Rusty’s Ranch House, on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at 6 p.m. This annual fundraising event, sponsored by the Friends of the Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery, helps support the fall national touring exhibitions booked into the gallery. Next fall the Braithwaite will host an exhibition prepared by the Smithsonian entitled In Focus: National Geographic Greatest Portraits.
