Theatre Arts/Dance

Kay Andersen was the Keynote Speaker for the Utah Dance Education Organization Fall 2007 Conference, “Educate and Celebrate.” He led conference participants in a session entitled, “The Unique Gesture,” based on dance improvisation. As a part of National Dance Week in the Netherlands, Kay taught Dance: Breaking Boundsdaily tap dance technique classes as well as choreographed for the workshop participants in October. The piece was performed as part of the culminating performance that ended the Festival.

Richard Bugg recently completed a successful three-year tenure as Chair of the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival, Region VIII. He will continue to serve on the Board of Directors for KCACTF for an additional three years as past chair and webmaster. Richard is also preparing for the Neil Simon Festival’s sixth season. To keep his hand in the film world, Richard just finished performing in a training film for the LDS church.

            

Theatre: Henry VMichael Harvey, new assistant professor of theatre design and technology, made his debut at SUU with his designs for the scenery and lighting for the Henry V production in the Adams Memorial Theatre September 27 to October 6.

Peter Sham will be reprising his role in USF’s annual production of A Christmas Carol: On the Air, December 8-22, 2007. The holiday show will be celebrating its fourth season. In addition, his work Lend Me a Tenor: The Musical (also written with SUU adjunct professor, Brad Carroll) continues to receive major offers from New York producers and a Broadway deal is expected to be reached by late fall. Peter also directed Shakespeare’s Henry V in the Adams Theatre in his capacity as a faculty member in the department. Peter is the Associate Chair for the Theatre Arts and Dance department.
