2007 Special AwardsBUCKY AONA NAMED HONORABLE MENTION SELECTION FOR 2007 PING ALL-FRESHMEN TEAMCEDAR CITY, Utah – Following a solid freshman season in which he led the Thunderbirds in batting average, Southern Utah’s Bucky Aona was named to the 2007 Ping All-Freshmen team as an honorable mention selection. It is the first year of the award as Aona joined seven other freshmen in the nation honored at the first base position in all of Division I baseball. Aona led Southern Utah with a .337 batting average and added four homeruns and 25 RBI in 51 games, including 46 starts. Southern Utah baseball will begin the 2008 campaign in the end of February when the Thunderbirds open with Central Michigan in Moapa Valley, Nev. on the 22nd. |
