Coach Ben Meier
Receivers
Ben Meier is in his fifth year on the SUU staff, his second as receivers coach.
Coach Meier began his career in 2003 as a student-assistant working with linebackers and the secondary. In 2004 he helped coach a squad which ranked sixth in the nation in total defense and seventh against the run. During that time he coached all-American Nick DiPadova as well as all-GWFC perfomers Mike Overly, Brian Kofoed, Steve Smith and Brandon Perkins.
Meier moved to the offensive side of the ball in 2006 and helped oversee a passing game which averaged 179.6 yards per game. He was also the position coach for first-team all-GWFC receiver Joey Hew Len.
Prior to joining the Thunderbird staff, Coach Meier served as an assistant at Murray High School where he coached the Spartans’ running backs, defensive backs and special teams.
A native of Salt Lake City, Coach Meier is a graduate of Murray HS, where he was an all-state performer for his father, Wade, before going on to compete at Snow College and finishing his playing career at SUU in 2002.
A 2006 graduate of SUU, Coach Meier is married to the former JoLinn Bradshaw. They are the parents of a son, Benson (2) and an infant daughter, Hiley. |
