Coach Jared Martin
Offensive Coordinator
Jared Martin is in his fifth season at Southern Utah University and his second as offensive coordinator.
Last year, in his first season as offensive coordinator, Martin helped increase offensive productivity in almost every statistical category. The SUU offense increased total offense by nearly 50 yards per game, including 71 yards-per-game in rushing, and increased scoring by nearly seven points per game. Conversely, the SUU offense also saw its sacks, interceptions and turnovers all reduced during the 2006 season.
Coach Martin spent his first year at SUU as a graduate assistant working with the defensive secondary. He then moved into the full-time ranks, spending two years as special team’s coordinator and running backs coach. Last year Martin took on offensive coordinator duties while coaching receivers and quarterbacks as well.
A 2000 graduate of the University of Utah, Martin spent three years coaching varsity football and track at Murray High School in Salt Lake City prior to joining the Thunderbirds, including a year as offensive coordinator in 2002. Martin also coached football and baseball at Utah’s Copper Hills from 1995-1999 and spent one year on the football staff at his alma mater, West Jordan HS.
Martin and his wife Bernadette, a soccer letter-winner at Utah, are the proud parents of a son, Tatum. Martin is currently working towards a Masters of Education at SUU.
