Coaching Staff

Coach Cole Wilson
Defensive Coordinator

Coach Cole WilsonCole Wilson is going into his seventh season on the Thunderbird staff and his third as assistant head coach. Coach Wilson is also in his fifth season as defensive coordinator.

During his tenure on the staff Coach Wilson has also worked as cornerbacks coach, safeties coach, linebackers coach and special teams coordinator.

All-Americans Jerry Cowan, Nick DiPadova, Marques Harris (who now plays for the San Diego Chargers) and over 30 all-conference performers have played under Wilson.

In 2004 Wilson’s defense ranked sixth overall in I-AA and seventh against the run.

Prior to joining the Thunderbird staff in the spring of 2000, Coach Wilson spent two seasons as special teams and secondary coach at Snow College.

Wilson also spent two seasons as an assistant at Lake City High in Couer D’Alene, Idaho. He also spent two seasons as a graduate assistant at the University of Idaho.

A 1996 graduate of Idaho, where he played two seasons at defensive back, Wilson and his wife Kara are the parents of three children: two daughters, Taylor (17) and Kayla (15) and a son Brayden (1).
