Kennedy Earns All-West Region Recognition
CEDAR CITY, Utah, May 21 – Southern Utah third-baseman/shortstop Lindi Kennedy has been named to this year’s NCAA Louisville Slugger All-West Region Softball squad. Kennedy, a junior from Las Vegas, Nev. (Cimarron Memorial HS), earned second-team recognition as a third baseman. During the regular season Kennedy batted .377 with 14 home runs, 14 doubles, 55 RBI and 33 runs scored. She led the Thunderbirds and the Mid-Continent Conference in home runs, slugging (.737), RBI, total bases (123) and hits this past season and was among the conference’s leaders in doubles and on-base percentage (.483) as well. Kennedy was named second-team all-Mid-Con and was also named to the conference’s all-tournament team after helping guide SUU to its second straight Mid-Con tourney title and its fifth straight conference title overall, either regular-season or tournament. “This is a good award for Lindi, there are a lot of really good players on this team,” SUU Coach Jodi Jackson said. “We’re extremely proud of her, what a great representative for SUU softball.” Kennedy’s selection gives the Thunderbirds at least one team member in five of the last six seasons. Last year Marci Pratt and Kortney Hall received recognition, while in 2005 Tiffany Burt and Kristen Carmicheal were named. In 2002 and again in 2004 Lacee LePrey earned a spot on the team. The complete team follows: WEST REGION TEAMS 1st TEAM Robin Mackin Pitcher Fresno State 2nd TEAM Jennifer Davis Pitcher UCSB
