Merrill Named To Academic All-District Squad
Merrill, a senior from Show Low, Ariz., carries a 3.58 GPA in criminal justice. She was named to the all-district second team in voting conducted among the district’s sports information directors. Merrill is currently second on the team and in the Mid-Continent Conference in home runs (11) and RBI (38), and ranks third in slugging (.591) and total bases (94) in both the league and on the team. Merrill also ranks among the Mid-Con’s top-10 in runs scored (5th, 32) and hits (8th, 48). “We’re very proud of Bobbi Jo, for what she has accomplished on and off the field,” SUU Coach Jodi Hermanek said. “She has fought through injuries and other setbacks the last year and has been an important part of this team’s success.” The Thunderbirds are currently in Shreveport, La., getting ready to begin defense of their Mid-Continent Conference tournament championship. The two-day, double-elimination tournament begins Friday on the campus of Centenary College. District 8 includes universities in Arizona, California, Hawaii, Oregon, Utah and Washington. |
