2007-08 Summit League Preseason PollWESTWOOD NAMED PRESEASON SECOND-TEAM ALL-CONFERENCECEDAR CITY, Utah – Oct. 17 – SUU junior Anne Westwood was named preseason second-team all-conference in conjunction with the Summit League women's basketball preseason poll released today. Southern Utah was picked ninth in the poll. Westwood finished the 2006-07 campaign with second-team all-conference kudos after leading the Thunderbirds in points and rebounds. The native of Cedar City also led the team in field-goal percentage, shooting 46-percent from the field. 2006-07 Mid-Continent Conference champion Oral Roberts was picked first in the poll with ten first-place votes, followed by Oakland, South Dakota State and North Dakota State. Each of the latter teams garnered four, 14 and two first-place votes, respectively. IUPUI rounded out the top five with Western Illinios, UMKC in sixth and seventh. IPFW was ahead of the Thunderbirds by only a point in eighth place and Centenary was picked tenth in the newly formed ten-team league. The women’s basketball season begins with the team’s preseason opener against Dixie State on Nov. 1 with the season-opener against Concordia (Calif.) on Nov. 9.
