Memo

From: Paula Alger, Advisor

Subject: Entrance Requirements for the Master of Accountancy Program

Welcome to SUU! Southern Utah University offers a one-year, master’s degree in accounting (MAcc); however, a student must have an undergraduate degree in accounting to enter the one-year program. If a student does not have an accounting major, it is necessary to complete the foundation courses prior to entrance into the MAcc program. The courses required for entrance into the SUU Masters of Accountancy program (MAcc) are: Accounting Principles, Managerial Accounting, Business Law, Microeconomics, Statistics, Marketing, Management, Managerial Finance, Intermediate Accounting I, and II; Tax I, Tax II; Cost Accounting; Accounting Information Systems, Auditing; and Advanced Accounting.

Acceptance is predicated upon the undergraduate grade point average (GPA) and GMAT/GRE test scores. An applicant’s undergraduate degree should be from a nationally accredited business program (ACBSP or AACSB). Unconditional acceptance to the MAcc program is awarded if the grade point average (for the last 60 hours) exceeds a 3.0 and the GMAT/GRE score exceeds 550. Applicants from a non-accredited business program will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. If you have not met the aforementioned requirement, you will need to meet the SUU Accounting Department Chair, Dr. David Christensen prior to entrance into the MAcc. If you would like to speak with him directly, feel free to email him at: christensend@suu.edu.

If you have further questions concerning the MAcc program, please let me know. To request admissions information (including application for admission), please visit the admissions website or contact Christine Proctor at the following email address: proctor@suu.edu. If you need to contact the financial aid office for eligibility questions, visit the Financial Aid website

Good luck with your endeavors! If you need any assistance, please let me know alger@suu.edu.
