What graduate programs are offered on the SUU campus in the School of Business? The SUU School of Business offers two masters degrees, the Master of Accountancy (MAcc) degree and the Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.
What requirements are necessary to apply to the graduate degrees in business?
Either graduate program in the SUU School of Business requires the following:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
Bachelor’s degree in a business related field or completion of the foundation core *
Minimum GPA cumulative of 3.0 or better.
GMAT or GRE test score
Index score of 1150 or better (The index score is computed by taking your GPA cumulative X 200 + GMAT or GRE score=1150)
Submission of 3 letters of recommendation (for non-SUU students only)
Students with a bachelor’s degree from an international university must provide an international evaluation prior to acceptance into either graduate program.
What is the GMAT or GRE test? The GMAT and GRE tests are entrance tests required for acceptance into the graduate programs in the SUU School of Business (similar to the ACT requirements for acceptance into a baccalaureate program). This test may be taken anytime preceding the application into either graduate program. Check out the following web-site for further information: MBA Testing
How are the graduate programs structured? How many credits are required for each program? Both graduate programs in the SUU School of Business are 30 credit hours each. If the applicant is accepted into either program (without the need for additional foundation courses), the degree can be earned in as few as 2 terms (15 credits per term). The specific requirements for each degree may be accessed by checking out the following web-site: MAcc MBA
Do I have to attend the graduate programs as a full-time student, or can I attend part-time? Either program can be completed by taking a full or part-time load. It is necessary to complete the program within 6 years of matriculation. MAcc and MBA students can apply to the graduate program during any term; however, the MBA program does have a capstone course which is offered in the spring (only) ~ and a beginning student may not begin with that course (MGMT 6400).
What time of day are the programs offered? The MAcc program is offered as a traditional day program (offering courses between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.). The MBA program is offered as an evening program (Monday – Thursday evenings/some late afternoon courses available).
Are there GPA requirements once I am admitted to the program? Yes, it is required that a student earns at least a 3.0 GPA every term and no individual grade lower than a “C”.
How many credits am I allowed to take each term? A student may take up to 12 credits in the summer and 15 credits each fall and spring semesters.
If I completed my degree some time ago, will I have a problem applying to the graduate program? Typically, credits older than 10 years may be out of date (depending on the discipline); however, it is best to contact the SUU Business Advisor for a review of applicable credits. The SUU Graduate Committee will meet on applicable course work to determine whether the foundation courses have been met.
When do I need to take the GMAT or the GRE? It is recommended that the GMAT or GRE test is taken within 5 years of applying to a graduate program at SUU. Any variance must be approved by the SUU Graduate Committee.
