Business Accreditation Reaffirmed

In Fall 2003, the School of Business underwent an accreditation reaffirmation visit by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). It looked at the MBA program for the first time, as well as all other business programs. ACBSP’s accreditation standards are based on the Malcolm Baldridge Award standards for educational institutions (Leadership, Strategic Planning, Student and Stakeholder Focus, Information and Analysis, Human Resource Development and Management, and Educational and Business Process Management). As a result of the self-study, three-person evaluation team visit and review by the ACBSP Commission, the School of Business’ accreditation was reaffirmed. The following commendations were given:

  • The existing leadership promotes performance excellence, is very student focused, and is highly supportive of research areas.
  • The School of Business has a comprehensive strategic plan with a strong marketing plan to attract new students.
  • The School of Business has very strong ties with the business community as is evidenced by the advisory board, the accomplishments of student organizations, and a strong Small Business Development Center.

The team was very impressed with the strong scholarly and professional activity record of the faculty. SUU has been accredited by ACBSP since 1993. We are currently pursuing accreditation by the Association for the Advancement of College Schools of Business (AACSB-International), which we hope to complete in the next year or so.
