Judy Carlson was born 24 February 1962 in Le Center, Minnesota.  She graduated from Le Center High School in 1980.  In May of 2002 she completed her Associate of Science Degree from Vincennes University.

Judy Carlson moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1986 and joined the Arizona Army National Guard.  She attended Basic and Advanced Individual Training at Ft Jackson, SC and was Distinguished Honor Graduate of the Unit Supply Specialist (76Y) Course.

In December of 1987 she entered the AGR program as a Personnel Records Specialist.  Throughout her career she has worked in the Personnel Service Branch, SIDPERS, Recruiting and Retention and the Human Resources Department.

Judy Carlson transferred to Cedar City, UT in June of 2002, and was assigned to Headquarters 2nd Battalion 222nd Field Artillery until she retired in August 2007 with 21 years total military service.

Her military education includes many MOS schools (76Y now 92Y, 75D, 75F, 75H and 71L).  She has attended leadership development schools which include: Primary Leadership Development Course, Ft Beauregard, LA, Basic Non Commissioned Officer Course and Advanced Non Commissioned Officer Course, Ft Jackson, SC.   She has also attended various professional development courses at the National Guard Professional Education Center some of which are the Unit Clerk, Personnel Management and Retirement Counselor Course. 

Judy Carlson has been awarded three Meritorious Service Medals, an Army Commendation Medal, two Army Achievement Medals and a Utah Commendation Medal.  Her service awards include Army Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal (with six loops), National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal and NCO Professional Development Ribbon (3rd award).

Judy married Richard R. Carlson on September 25th 1990 in Jackson Hole, WY.  They have two girls Ashley and Sierra.
