Ranger Challenge

This year the SUU ROTC again did well at the Ranger Challenge competition. SUU took fourth place overall. The team was coached by MSG Mike Glad. The team included Michael Barr, Rory Mele, Kenneth McArthur, Jonathan Santana, Weslie Porter, Sarah Gibbs, David Dalton, Micah Young, Dani Young, and Adam Ellington(Team Captain). This year the competition was held on one day and consisted of an Army Physical Fitness Test, One Rope Bridge crossing, Land Navigation, Rifle Marksmanship, and a 10 kilometer march with full field gear. One of the biggest accomplishments of this year team was running the march in 1:16:16 over 5 min. faster than any other SUU team in 4 year.

Next year the team is expected to have 5 members return from this year’s team, and 2 other team members from previous teams are expected to return. This will leave at least 3 positions open for new team members. All ROTC cadets are welcome and encouraged to accept “The Ranger Challenge”.
