| M16 Marksmanship | Target shooting for a combined score. |
| Patrolling | Using tactical skills patrolling skills in a squad size element. |
| One rope competition | Using one rope get all team members across from one tree to another in the fastest time. |
| Repelling | Repel from a 70 foot tower |
| Map Reading | Take a written test |
| Land Navigation | Teams go out in groups of three to find points that are worth a score based on the difficulty in finding them. This is a timed event. |
| 10K road march. | In full uniform carrying an M16 and a 35-40 lb ruck, run a little over 6 miles and finish as a team. |
The Ranger Challenge team is made up of 10 SUU ROTC cadets. At least on team member must be a female. |
