Concurrent Adjuct Faculty
Concurrent Enrollment students operate under the same policies as regularly enrolled SUU students; i.e., drop days follow catalog, assignment of I and T according to policy. Adjunct instructors are also treated as regular faculty. If grades are not returned to the Concurrent Enrollment Office within 72 hours of the last final exam, then the Adjunct will not be allowed to teach for SUU the following semester. On the second occurrence of this failure to submit grades, the Adjunct will permanently be excluded from teaching for SUU.

Eligibility
High school students must be of junior or senior standing to participate in concurrent enrollment. Any exceptions to this policy would be made by SUU on an individual case-by case basis. Exceptions would be limited to only include accelerated sophomores students. The high school has the responsibility for ensuring that students meet SUU requirements for participation in concurrent enrollment classes. Eligibility requirements are based on selectivity sufficient enough to predict a successful experience in accord with criteria provided by SUU. The Academic Standards and Admissions Committee must give approval. Students will be expected to pay for their own textbooks, tuition, fees, etc., unless provided by the District.
Course Admission & Registration Information:  top

Admission
All concurrent enrollment students at Southern Utah University must submit a completed admissions application, concurrent enrollment application, high school transcripts, ACT/SAT scores (if available), and the required application fee. The application for admission and application fee are submitted once providing the student continues to enroll for subsequent an admission’s application and a re-application fee as per University policy. Concurrent students must provide a current high school transcript and ACT/SAT scores to the admission’s office upon graduation from high school. Registration into any of the on-line courses requires a cleared admission to SUU every semester. For more information contact your High School Counselor.

Registration
The registration form is obtained from your High School Counselor. Besure to fill it out completly, any missing information, signatures, payment, etc. will delay and or void the application and admission to the concurrent program. This triplicate form must be submitted to SUU Distance Ed by the High School Councelor.

The Registration Deadline for Concurrent courses is 30 days before the semester begins.

Application
The one-time application fee is the responsibility of the student. The SUU Application for Admission form, the SUU Concurrent Enrollment Application form, and the one-time application fee must be received to complete a student’s initial admission and registration process.

In compliance with SUU policy on concurrent enrollment, the SUU Concurrent Enrollment Application form includes signatures of students and parents/guardians which express their desire for student enrollment and their awareness that the student will be beginning an official transcript with the University. The SUU Concurrent Enrollment Application form also includes the signature of the principal or high school counselor, providing SUU with written approval of those junior and senior students whom the school is recommending for enrollment in selected courses for credit (ask your HS councilor for policy criteria), and whom the district will fund. For the first concurrent enrollment class, the student will complete a Concurrent Enrollment Admission form and pay an application fee. The application fee will cover future admission to SUU unless the student attends another higher education institution between their concurrent enrollment experiences, in which case the student would be subject to the SUU readmission policy. Formal admission is subject to acceptance by the SUU Admissions and Academic Standards Committee.

Policies & Procedures:  top

Policies and Procedures
It is reccomended that all current and potential students taking Distance Education offerings understand the requirements and guidelines regarding the courses they take.

Course Completion
All work must be completed within the SUU semester schedule. Consult the SUU calendar or general catalog for these dates.

Drops/Withdrawals
To ensure that a class does not appear on the student transcript; classes have to be dropped by the third Friday of the semester. Courses dropped after the thrid Friday until the last day allowed, will be listed in the student transcripts. A "W" (withdrawl) will be indicated as the grade, the "w" does not effect the student's GPA.

Academic Honesty
You are expected to be honest about doing your course work on your own. Academic dishonesty is serious and will not be tolerated. SUU Faculty now have access to anti-plagiarism databanks and software/services. It is recomended to submit your own work for assignments. Unacceptable behavior such as submitting someone else's work as your own, cheating on examinations and plagiarism can result in a variety of penalties such as resubmission of lessons, reexamination, and/or failure in the course. If you do not have a clear understanding of these expectations, please read the following web site about plagarism at http://ollie.dcccd.edu/library/Module4/M4-VII/plagar.htm, and/or type the word plagarism in a web search engine and follow several links until you do understand.
See also the SUU Policy as regarding academic honesty as stated in the General Catalog found at: http://www.suu.edu/academics/catalog/2004/ch2a.pdf.

Additional Applications, Forms & Information:  top
Grading
Grading criteria must be the same for both high school and SUU records. Thus, the grade given for the high school course will be the same as the grade given for the University course.

Incomplete Grade Application
This form is to be used to contract a completion date for Distance Education courses. Use it as directed by the professor if it is required by the department, or to hold a T grade open for a specific contracted time. Form link.

Test Proctor Identification Form
This form is for faculty needing to have a test proctor to facilitate exams for students. Form link. High School counselors and Concurrent Facilitators, not parents, friends or relatives, can be test proctors.

School Certification Tests
Students may present the results to their school counselor who will forward these to the Office of Distance Education with a check from the student for $15 per credit hour of credit that will be awarded from SUU. These forms are due to the Concurrent Enrollment office no later than April 30th of any year.

Transferability of Concurrent Enrollment Credit
All concurrent enrollment courses will count directly toward a degree at Southern Utah University. All concurrent enrollment courses will be given either major, general education or elective credit at SUU and within the Utah System of Higher Education institutions (public colleges and universities). But not all concurrent enrollment courses will count directly toward a major at other Utah public colleges and universities.

Most colleges and universities in Utah accept concurrent enrollment credit for classes taught on the high school campus. Nonetheless, it is the student’s responsibility to ascertain whether or not the institution to which the student will be transferring accepts concurrent enrollment credit.

SUU does not assume responsibility for acceptance of transfer credit by any other institution. However, the legislature has directed all Utah System of Higher Education institutions to accept concurrent enrollment transfer credit.
