Richard Cozzens, professional in residence of CAD/CAM Engineering Technology welcomed everyone to the advisory board meeting and introduced advisory board members to the audience. Following general introductions, Professor Cozzens introduced Ronald P. Marsden, New Business Development Director of Resolutions Business Group, Phantom Works, from The Boeing Company. Ron Marsden spoke on technological advances that have been made in the area of reverse engineering. He also discussed some of the software that is used in reverse engineering. Mr. Marsden had a problem that he asked the audience to solve which included a piece of wood with 3 different shaped holes in it. He asked the audience for a volunteer. Robert Hughes, a CAD/CAM Engineering Technology major from London, England volunteered to assist Mr. Marsden. Mr. Hughes verified the validity of the process Mr. Marsden used to solve the problem. Both President Steve Bennion and Provost Abe Harraf were in attendance.
At 12:00 noon, advisory board members and invited guests attended a luncheon sponsored by the Department of Applied Technology. After lunch, advisory board members were asked by Professor Cozzens to express any concerns they may have towards the CAD/CAM Engineering Technology program. Several advisory board members expressed interest in having the CAD/CAM Engineering Technology program receive ABET accreditation. Other members expressed interest in supporting a new Architectural/Civil design emphasis. Other members expressed interest in supporting summer internships for senior CAD/CAM Engineering Technology students. CAD/CAM Engineering Technology faculty members express their thanks to advisory board members for their attendance.
