Department of Integrated Engineering & Technology

Class Projects

During the spring of 2002, Engineering Technology students enrolled in CCET 4960 were assigned the task of designing and fabricating an apparatus that would launch a water balloon a distance of 100 ft. The apparatus must be accurate within a 10 ft diameter. The apparatus must be able to be carried by 1 person and use only mechanical launching capabilities.

The greatest distance achieved by one of the launchers was approximately 200 ft. The design was very similar to a medieval catapult. Other designs also were able to exceed the 100 ft requirement.
