Salt Lake City—Southern Utah University students traveled to Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) Thursday April 3 to compete at the annual Skills USA VICA state competition. Southern Utah University made a strong showing by bringing home 14 medals.
First Place Gold Medalists include: Jared Hummel in Electronics Applications, Benjamin Cox in Criminal Justice, and Dan Andrews in Principles of Technology.
Second Place Silver Medalists include: Colby Davis in Masonry, Don Parker in Job Skill Demonstration A, Clayton Andersen in Electronics Applications, Adam Petersen in Architectural Drafting, James Lawrence in Electronics Technology, Adam Thayer in Criminal Justice, and Ryan Kay in Precision Machining Technology.
Third Place Bronze Medalists include: Michael Pickins in Electronics Technology, Brian Clement in Criminal Justice, Kelcie Magleby in Job Interview, and Tracy Day in Technical Drafting.
All first place winners now travel to Kansas City, Kansas June 23-28 2003 to compete at National Skills USA VICA competition. We would like to thank everyone who participated in the state competition and wish our gold medalist good luck at nationals.
