Exploring Polyhedra

Abstract: We will investigate properties of regular, semi-regular, and regular star polyhedra. We will construct models of polyhedra and other 3-dimensional objects using several methods.

- GRE Reminder
For students who plan to go to graduate school in the fall, the deadline for registering for the GRE subject test is Nov. 4. The test is administered on Dec. 10. Nearby test locations are Las Vegas, Flagstaff, Orem, and Salt Lake City.
- Math Department T-shirt
The Math Dept. is having a design contest for a Math Dept. T-shirt. Please submit a design, graphic, saying, etc. by Nov. 11 to Robin Archibald. The winner receives a free T-shirt! The shirts will be sold, and proceeds go to the SUU Math Club. Good Luck!
- Putnam Practice Sessions

The William Lowell Putnam Competition is a national contest for undergraduates and is held on the first Saturday in December. Problems from past exams are available. Please contact Derek Hein at hein@suu.edu if you are interested.

- Virginia Tech Math Contest
As preparation for the nationwide Putnam Exam, we are participating in the Virginia Tech Regional Mathematics Contest held on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 8:15am-11am in 128 Sc. Students are most welcome to take the exam regardless of whether they will take the Putnam. Questions? Contact Vishal Lama.
