Jim Brandt, Devin Wiggins, Patrick Staley, and Said Bahi have been working together on a statistical project for a local company.  Congratulations to students Devin and Patrick, who obtained summer internships from the company.

Math faculty Seth Armstrong is the interim department chair for the 2007-2008 school year, replacing former department chair Eric Freden, who is the interim department chair for the Computer Science and Information Systems.

Jake Denison is the the new student secretary for the math department.

Math enthusiasts took the Virginia Tech Regional Mathematics Contest on October 27, 2007.

The Virginia Tech Regional Mathematics Contest is a two and a half hour problem solving test with cash prizes.

Math faculty Jim Brandt and Andreas Weingartner answered questions about math and statistics related careers at the Majors Fair, held on October 31, 2007.  There were also candy bars for those who solved some tricky math problems.

A group of SUU students competed for the first time in the 2007 International Genetically Engineered Machine Competition in Boston on November 3-4, 2007.
