UNIV1010 - University Orientation students are required to attend two (2) Convocations of their choice during the semester. Students should review all the Convocation lectures from the schedule carefully and select the two that are of the greatest interest or are most relevant to their areas of study. These Convocations are in addition to completing the assignment packet received at Orientation. If you have questions that are not answered on this page please email Jeb Branin or you may call him in the Student Success Center 435.586.5419 or stop by the Student Success Center in Suite 177 of the Sharwan Smith Center
If you have a class conflict and thus cannot attend Convocation, please see the Make Up/Alternate assignment below.
Reflection sheets are all provided at Convocation
Students arriving late to Convocation, wishing to leave Convocation early, or handing in a Reflection Form late, will NOT receive credit for the assignment. Please be aware that you do not have to agree with a Convocation presenter, but you should always show them respect. Even the instructor may disagree with the Convocation presenter, which is fine. The theme of Convocations is A Feast of Ideas. Learning about new and exciting (and sometimes different) ideas is all part of the experience.
If you cannot attend any Convocation due to class conflicts, you can make it up by attending presentations of your choice from the Additional Speakers/Presentations list and turning in the "Make Up" reflection sheet (see link above or below to download the sheet). To have an event count that is not listed on the web site you must get permission in ADVANCE from Jeb in the Student Success Center. Do one make up for each Convocation.
