    During the Clinical Practice students must:
    1.    Take and pass the PRAXIS PLT (Principles of Learning and Teaching) Test Code: 0522 Grades K-6. Passing score is 160.
    2.    Contact the SUU Office of Education for Licensue paperwork.

Admission Procedure Elementary Education Licensure:


Submisison of Admission Documentation:

  1. Candidates desiring admission to SUU's Graduate Studies in Education M.Ed. Program  must complete the Online Version and pay the $50.00 non-refundable application fee. PLEASE indicate in "Intended academic plan in which you want to study:  GELP ELE ED LICENSURE  
  2. SUBMIT ALL THE FOLLOWING IN ONE PACKAGE. (All application materials must be submitted in their entirety by the deadline dates. Candidates who do not submit all the required documentation by the deadline date will not be processed for admission into the program for that semester.)
Additional Admission Requirements: 

ALL applicants must attend a mandatory Graduate Studies Program Orientation before being officially admitted and taking classes.     Contact Debi Smith at smithd@suu.edu  or 435-865-8383 to reserve your seat for orientation.

ALL applicants must take the Elementary Education Content Praxis Exam (Test Code: 0014) and pass it before being officially admitted and taking classes . ( Passing score: 150)  Submit scores to SUU (A4092 school code) and USOE (R8375 state code).

ALL applicants must successfully complete a criminal background/fingerprint check approved by the State of Utah before being officially admitted and taking classes.   

General Information:

  1. The GELP program must be completed within six years of continuous enrollment from the date of matriculation.
  2. Students will be required to attend one summer session of on campus classes.
  3. Upon admission all graduate students must maintain a 3.0 GPA. If a student's GPA falls below 3.0, the student will be revoked from the program and must submit a Student Appeals Application to seek readmission.
  4. If a student misses more than two consecutive semesters, excluding summer session, the student must apply for readmission and is subject to the current catalog requirements.
