Greetings!

We are pleased to serve you in the newly named Beverley Taylor Sorenson College of Education.  As current and future educators, you are part of a long history of teaching excellence at Southern Utah University.

Old Main, the home of the College of Education is a landmark on the campus, being not only the first permanent building, but also the place where educators have come to develop and hone their professional skills for over a century.  We are proud of our students who have filled the classrooms and involved themselves in this historical tradition.

The original Old Main is being restored and will become an historical tribute and the Administrative Offices for the Beverly Taylor Sorenson College of Education.  Reflecting the growth of educational programs in the College, a new, state of the art extension is also currently under construction directly behind Old Main.  Teaching in the new Emma Eccles Jones Education Building is anticipated to begin by Spring, 2008.

We salute our graduates, both Bachelors and Masters, as they successfully contribute to the profession in locations across the state of Utah and around the world. That you have chosen to follow their path is both a tribute to Southern Utah University and an opportunity for you.

The Faculty joins me in welcoming you, and in assuring you quality learning opportunities in our many NCATE accredited programs.

As Louis Pasteur observed, “Chance favors the prepared mind.”  Best wishes to you as you continue your preparation.

Sincerely,

Prent Klag, Ed.D.
