Guiding Questions for the Professional Education Faculty Conceptual Framework Workshop
Session One:
Question One:
What understandings, skills, and dispositions (values) must all students graduating from public schools possess in order to lead quality lives as adults in the 21st. Century?
Question Two:What esstntial characteristics would highly effective professional educators need in order to create schools which provide all students with the essential understandings skills and dispositions outlined in Question One above?
Question Three:Given the answers generated in Questions One and Two above, what are the essential understandings, skills and dispositions for beginning professional educators who graduate from our teacher preparation programs? (It is helpful to state these as expected outcomes; e.g. "Our graduates will..."
Session Two
Question Four:
What are the essential characteristics of our professional education programs necessary to produce the knid of beginning teachers described in Question Three? (It is helpful to state these as expected outcomes; e.g. "Our professional education programs will..."
Question Five:What are important source documents (philosophical positions, research reports, theories, etc.) which (a) our professional education faculty must understand in order to develop effective professional education programs, and (b) our candidates (beginning and advanced) must read and understand in order to prepare themselves effectively for beginning and/or advanced professional practice?
Question Six:What would a curriculum designed to prepare the beginning professionals described in Question three look like? Bear in mind that the format of this curriculum must be consistent with the outcomes listed in response to Question four.

What would a curriculum designed to prepare the advanced professionals described in Question two look like? Bear in mind that the format of this curriculum must be consistent with the outcomes listed in response to Question four.
Question Eight:How will candidate achievement in both basic and advanced programs be assessed in ways consistent with program framework(s), goals, objectives, and delivery modes?
Question Nine:What central theme is apparent and consistent across all responses to Questions One through Eight?
