We have invited Dr. Donald McCabe, a nationally renowned expert on academic integrity from Rutgers University, to visit SUU as an Eccles Visiting Scholar. His visit will occur from Tuesday, Sept 30 to Thursday Oct 2. In preparation for his visit, I would like to invite and encourage you to participate in a research project by taking an on-line survey which can be found at http://acad-integrity.rutgers.edu/suu.asp. This survey has been approved by the IRB at Rutgers University and here at SUU. Attached is a letter from Dr. McCabe telling you about the survey. Dr. McCabe will analyze the data prior to his visit and compare our results to the more than 170 colleges that have participated. He will present his general findings to all faculty and students at a convocation on Tuesday, Sept 30. This is a great opportunity for SUU and I hope you will complete the survey by September 15.

Southern Utah University is participating in a nationwide survey of college students on the subject of academic integrity. This study is designed to get student opinions about the current state of academic integrity at our nation’s colleges and universities. The survey is similar in design to studies I have conducted over the last eighteen years at more than 170 colleges, involving more than 175,000 students.
The survey takes about fifteen minutes to complete. It asks how you view the issue of academic integrity and how you feel your classmates do. My hope is that you will go to the link listed below and complete this survey. No one other than me will have access to your individual data so I can assure you your responses will be treated confidentially.
Your participation is entirely voluntary. However, every student’s participation is important and I truly hope you will consider taking the time to complete the survey.
