Art Insights: Outstanding Students Present

Southern Utah University, Cedar City, Utah: It’s the best of the best, when the most remarkable art students, who have been specially selected by the faculty, present their work in Outstanding Students Present at SUU’s Department of Art and Design’s weekly lecture series, Art Insights, on Thursday, February 14, 2013. The lecture begins at 7pm at SUU’s Great Hall in the Hunter Conference Center. Admission is free and the general public is encouraged to attend.

This year, eight top students from SUU’s Class of 2013 have been selected to present their art, thoughts, inspirations and process to their fellow students. These gifted artists are: Becky Fawson, Illustration; Mitch Grimshaw, Graphic Design; Linda Johnson, Art History; Rachel Newby, Painting/Drawing/Printmaking; Ashley Ruff, Graphic Design; Scott Schmidt, Ceramics/Sculpture; Nicole Shannon, Art Education; and John B. Stuart, Art History. Each of these students has distinguished themselves in their respective fields earning the respect of the faculty and their fellow students.

Art & Design Department Chair Eric Brown is enthusiastic in his praise for these students, "These eight students represent a terrific graduating class. They exhibit a wonderful combination of creativity, industry, intelligence and fearlessness. We will be sad to see them leave but thrilled to watch what they accomplish in the future."
