Math 2250, Linear Algebra & Differential Equations
Standard Disclaimer: This sheet is not intended to be a complete review. If you have any difficulty at all working any of the problems suggested on this sheet, you should re-study that concept carefully and do several more examples.
Test Times Information: Exam 4 will be Monday, Dec 3, through Tuesday, Dec 4, in the Testing Center. Hours are 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday. Make sure you get there a couple hours before closing to have enough time to finish.
Formulas: Any formulas in the way of generalized eigenvalue solutions and Laplace transforms will be given. You should be able to write down solutions of systems with a full set of eigenvalues without a need to refer to formulas. You should also be able to do a simple integration by parts and some simple partial fraction expansions.
Key to Problems: Key to problems recommended in the review below (That I hope is mostly right!)
Suggested Review Problems to remind you of the main ideas that will be on the test. I tried to include as many non-HW exercises as possible
· Section 7.1: 3, 8, 14 (both be able to sketch a direction field, find the solution and plot the solution)
· Section 7.2: 10, 16, 19
· Section 7.3: 5, 11, 18
· Section 7.4: 2, 6, 20
· Section 10.1: 3, 6, 9, 24, 28, 30
· Section 10.2: 10, 13, 18*, 22* (*Use partial fractions by hand, not Theorem 2.)
· Section 10.3: 6, 10, 14*, 16* (*You may use, i.e., “Apart” on Mathematica first, then find the inverse transform by hand after the partial fraction expansion.)
· Handout: 2, 7, 9
