Joe Baker's Homepage
Hi gang, and welcome. I was born in Miami, Oklahoma on January
13, 1950. My parents taught school for the Bureau of Indian Affairs,
and I grew up on or near Indian Reservations in Utah, Arizona, and New
Mexico. I am a 1968 grad of
Farmington HS in New Mexico.
In 1977 I completed my doctorate in economics at the University of Utah.
I moved to Oak Ridge, TN that year and worked for 15 years as a research
economist for the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education.
I also worked for 4 years as a research economist for the
National
Research Council in Washington, DC. (Please see C.V.)
In 1997 I lost my job in Oak Ridge as a result of the post-cold war
Department of Energy restructuring. I joined the faculty of Southern
Utah University that year as Associate Professor of Managerial Economics.
SUU is located in Cedar City Utah and is surrounded by the most beautiful
country on this planet... Zions, Bryce, Cedar Breaks and other parks
