Elementary Physics and Lab (PHYS 1010/1015)

• The text for PHYS 1010 is "Conceptual Physics Fundamentals" by Paul G. Hewitt, ISBN: 0-321-50136-5
• There is no text for PHYS 1015 (labs will be provided to you by instructor).

Physics for Scientists and Engineers I (PHYS 2210)

• The text for PHYS 2210 is "Physics for Scientists and Engineers: A Strategic Approach, Third Edition" by Randall D. Knight, ISBN: 0-321-75294-5
• You will also need a code for the MasteringPhysics online homework system for our particular text and edition (this is important), ISBN: 0-321-75304-6
• If you are retaking PHYS 2210 and already have the 2nd edition of Knight (and MasteringPhysics account), then it is probably not worth your money to buy the new edition. Come talk to me, as you may or may not need to purchase the MasteringPhysics code for the 3rd edition.

Physics for Scientists and Engineers II (PHYS 2220)

• The text for PHYS 2220 is the same for that used in Fall 2012: "Physics for Scientists and Engineers: A Strategic Approach, Second Edition" by Randall D. Knight, ISBN: 0-321-51661-3
• You will also need a code for the MasteringPhysics online homework system for our particular text and edition (this is important), ISBN: 0-321-51639-7. If you already have an account from Fall 2012 then you will not need to buy a new one. If you do not already have an account, it may prove difficult to purchase a code for the 2nd edition of Knight -- come talk to me to get this arranged.

Astronomy Lab (PHYS 1045-01,02):

• The first meeting of lab is not at the Observatory, but instead on campus in SC 016 at the regularly scheduled lab time. This counts as one of the semester's labs -- don't miss it.
• Any crucial announcements or lab cancellations will be announced over twitter.
• First Night's Lab handout (includes directions to Ashcroft Observatory)
