All assignments are to be typed or word-processed. Multi-page assignments
should be stapled, not paper clipped or folded over on the corner. Written
work should be neat and grammatically correct. Points may be deducted for poor
grammar and incorrect spelling.
Computer problems are NOT an acceptable excuse for late work! When using a computer,
remember that data can be lost and computer systems do go down -- complete work early so
that these problems do not interfere with your ability to receive full credit for
assignments.
All assignments are due at or before class time of due dates. Late assignments
will be accepted, but will be penalized 20% of the total points possible.
Take tests at the scheduled times. Notification must be ahead of time for
legitimate excuses to change time, i.e., intercollegiate sports, conferences, or
family emergencies.
Properly cite all published resources used to prepare written assignments.
Paraphrase often, quote when necessary, but never plagiarize.
No children or cell phones should be brought to class since they interfere with
the ability of others to learn.
Your Personal Property Inventory MUST be submitted inside of a CLASP-TYPE MANILA
ENVELOPE. It will NOT be accepted without the envelope. This is for your protection (to
make sure that all of your items stay together.)
It is highly recommended that you attend class on a regular basis.
Participate in class discussions. Questions are always welcome - we learn some of the most
interesting facts as a result of student questions. Examples from class members can
help reinforce concepts being discussed.
All graded materials must be retained by the student until the end of the semester -
they will be needed in the event of grade discrepancy.
The professor will retain all exams until the end of the semester to verify grades.
Students with Disabilities: Students with medical, psychological, learning or other disabilities desiring academic adjustments, accommodations, or auxiliary aids will need to contact the Southern Utah University Coordinator of Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD), in Room 205C of the Sharwin Smith Center or phone (435) 865-8022. SSD determines eligibility for and authorizes the provision of these services.
Academic Misconduct: Academic dishonesty will not be tolerated and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent. You are expected to have read and understood the current issue of the student handbook (published by Student Services) regarding student responsibilities and rights, and the intellectual property policy, for information about procedures and about what constitutes acceptable on-campus behavior. Cheating on tests or plagiarism on assignments will result in a grade of “F” for the course.
Student Fees: A fee of $10.00 is required for this course. Fees will be used for annualized equipment and media updates, teaching materials, testing fees at the learning center, clerical support, and to fund the student research project.
