FCS 3400
Auto Insurance Assignment

1.                  Obtain a copy of your CURRENT auto insurance policy declaration page.  (If you do not have an insurance policy, borrow one from a family member or friend…they will appreciate what you are about to do!)  Remember that I do NOT want nor need your personal information that may appear on the declarations page.  That may be white or black that out as you please.  What I do need to see are the coverages and prices you pay for that coverage so I can assure you have recorded them correctly on the form.

2.                  Using your CURRENT policy, fill in the “Current Coverage” information on the Auto Insurance Assignment Form. Indicate the coverage you have and the amount of those coverage.  If prices for each part of your coverage are not specified on the declarations page of your current policy, call your agent to get those values.

3.                  Call your insurance company and ask what it would cost to increase your coverage to the limits indicated under “New Limits.”  Be sure to find out what each individual part of the policy would cost (i.e., what does the bodily injury liability portion cost?).  If you already have the higher limits, then find out what it would cost if you were to switch to the state minimum requirements.

4.                  Write a 750-word (minimum), about 1 1/2 pages  paper discussing the following:

a.      Which coverage you think are important for YOU to have and why they are important to YOU personally

b.      What changes you might make in your current policy based on what you have learned in class and from this assignment

c.   What discounts you currently qualify for when purchasing auto insurance and whether you can expect your rates to change in the near future

d.   What you learned about automobile insurance in class and from this assignment (things that you didn’t know before)

5.                  Staple (in this order) and turn in on due date:

a.      A cover page with assignment name, your name, and date

b.      A 750-word (or more) paper (see #4)

c.      The automobile insurance coverage form

d.      A copy of your current insurance policy declaration page (you should black/white out any personal information on the declaration page you are concerned about me getting)
