FCS 3400
Personal Property Inventory

This assignment asks you to make an inventory of all the property you own. Make copies of the Personal Property Inventory Form (one for each room in your home/apartment). If you would prefer to use a spreadsheet program (highly recommended) with one page per room, you may do that instead of printing the above listed form.  Fill in each column for each item you own. If you do not know exact information (price, year purchased), make an educated guess.  You need to supply at least one of the figures (actual cash value or replacement cost) but may include both figures if you would like to. This room-by-room property list is worth 50 points.

This assignment MUST be inside a large clasped manila envelope when it is turned in. (This prevents the loss and mix-up of the various items included in the project.)  In the envelope include the sheets containing information about your belongings AND the Summary of Personal Property Inventory. The summary list containing all rooms and property is worth 5 points.

To earn the remaining 20 points on this assignment, you must do more work. This makes the project more worthwhile to you personally.  What information would be most helpful to help you replace/recover your property?  It could involve any of the following (and these are ONLY suggestions, NOT requirements, and you may think of other appropriate information/things to include):

serial numbers on major purchases
making copies to store away from home (identify where they will be stored)
proof of insurance (homeowners or renters)
labeled pictures
video tape of possessions
receipts for major purchases
detail (name of all books and CDs, for example)
Each of the above (or your other personal choices) are worth 10 points each, up to a total of 20 points.

It is highly recommended that you type this assignment using a program like MS Excel (available on the SUU server). This will allow you to make future changes with ease (and also will total all of your columns so you don't have to do the math!)
