Course Description
The emphasis of this course is the interplay among assessment and teaching activities. Using a variety of formal and informal tests, the central focus of this class will be how the teacher can evaluate status and progress in reading, language, and mathematics and the implications of student progress for improving teaching. In addition, this class will provide the connection between gathering assessment information and the analysis and synthesis of data to develop report summaries.

INTASC #8 The teacher understands and uses formal and informal assessment strategies to evaluate and ensure the continuous intellectual, social, and physical development of the learner.

Course Objectives
Course Content
The process of assessing students with special needs continues to change. The primary focus of this course is to provide teacher candidates with a practical applied approach for learning about the complex procedures of the assessment process. This course provides teacher candidates with the opportunity to practice testing procedures, analysis assessment results, and develop report writing skills.
