Communication Technlogy Engineer and Adjunct Instructor - Southern Utah University Communication DepartmentCLASSROOM INSTRUCTION
• Teach the Communication Graphics class at SUU (COMM 3070)
Course emphasizes computer layout skills for publication, web and other graphic media. Software taught includes Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver and HTML.
This course is in high demand among Communication Students as well as students from other disciplines.
• Conducted workshops for SUU Communication Faculty in web page design and development.
• Taught class in technical broadcasting (COMM 307) until semester conversion in 1998
Developed and implemented this class including lesson plans, assignments, worksheets and other related materials. Class emphasized the technology behind broadcast equipment including installation, use and maintenance.
• Contracted with the SUU STIT program to develop and instruct workshop for new employees at KCCZ - T.V. in proper use of television production and monitoring equipment.
• Taught radio performance class during regular sessions until 1987 and summer sessions until 1994
• Have helped with instruction of television and radio production classes since 1975.COMPUTERS
• Install and maintain hardware and software for department faculty and staff computers (PC compatible)
• Provide hardware and software support for faculty and lab computers.
• Supervise 36 station PC student/instructional computer lab.
• Hire, train and supervise lab assistants in PC lab.
• Developed and serve as web master for departmental web site (www.suu.edu/hss/comm).
• Assist department faculty in creating and maintaining personal web pages.
• Taken courses toward Novell Network Administration (CNA) certification, CompTIA A+ certification and Cisco CCNA certification
• In depth knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Dreamweaver.
• Served on SUU Academic Computer Users Committee (ACUC) from inception to 1997.
• Served as member of SUU Teaching, Learning and Technology Roundtable (TLTR) until 2001.
• Administered Novell Network file server for SUU Centrum Building during 1990’s.
• Assisted with installation and operation of first computer lab in the SUU Centrum (CN 209).
• Wrote application software for generation of radio station logs and program listings.
• Maintained SUU Business Department computer terminals (late 1980s - early 1990s).
• One of the first non-academic/administrative computer users on SUU campus.

• Knowledge of various printing processes including letterpress, silk screen, block, gravure and offset lithography.
• Knowledge of pre-press functions including plate making, use of graphic arts cameras, goldenrod sheets, type setting, manual layout (cut and paste), etc.

• Broadcast Engineer for SUTV
Perform installation, maintenance and repair of television equipment including: Satellite receivers; routing switchers, video editors (both linear and non-linear), audio mixers, camcorders, newsroom computers, video recorders, monitors, etc.
• Help supervise and train students in proper use of equipment.RADIO
• Broadcast Engineer for KSUU
Perform all engineering functions including installation, maintenance and repair of equipment including: Audio production and recording, transmitting, etc. Help assure compliance to FCC rules. Apply for and help maintain all FCC required licenses and permits.
