Donna Lister is an associate professor at Southern Utah University and department chair in the nursing program. Donna received her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah. She earned her Master’s of Science in Nursing from Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah (BYU) where she specialized as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Upon completion of her studies at BYU, Donna was nationally certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She maintains licensure and practices as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in Family Practice in Parowan, Utah.
Donna has 25 plus years of experience as a clinical nurse and 16 years of experience in nursing education. She has worked in acute care, long term care, public health, school and home health settings. Donna helped develop and served for six years as the Director of Nursing for a rural home health agency in Beaver, Utah. Donna is serving on the Valley View Medical Center Board of Trustees, as the chair for the Southern Utah Clinical Consortium Committee, and is past-president for the Academic Leadership Committee of the Utah Organization of Nurse Leaders. Donna has most recently presented at the Nursing Economics-Nurse Educator/Nurse Executive Summit in Scottsdale, Arizona and at the Utah Organization of Nurses Leaders Summer Education Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah
Donna is currently pursuing a PhD in education at Walden University, Minneapolis, Minn. Her areas of interest include nursing education, educational processes, rural health, rural populations, family health, politics, and current issues in nursing and health care.
