                Assessments

1.               Students will create a grading rubric for their end of the year portfolio. The portfolio will contain work they have completed throughout the year, so the rubric should be set up to grade on many different points. Some grading points could be completion of work, creativity for projects and assignments, and spelling and punctuation. The students should help create the rubric and decide what they want in the portfolio to be graded. The students can use the rubric to grade their own portfolios, have another student grade the portfolio and the teacher can also use the rubric to grade.

2. The students can write a letter to a community leader in their city, state or country. They can ask them a question or making a request or telling them an idea they have for helping their community. These letters can be used to assess the students writing. You can assess their spelling, punctuation and grammar. The students can grade each otherŐs papers or the teacher can grade them. They can include these letters in their portfolio.
